This single arm straight arm pull down is not only good for working your lats, but any time you use only one side of the body you are forced to recognize that side’s own strength. It encourages core stability in order to keep square hips and chest while pulling one straight arm down.

In gymnastics as a little girl we did these with bands tied to a pole. It was good practice to strengthen each side for the “kip” in gymnastics.

You can start by doing these with a bar and pulling two arms at once. However, in my opinion if you are going to do an isolated exercise, why not make it unilateral to check in on each side of your body’s strength?
